So, we finally did it. Otaku Con happened this week!!!

So, I have been working with Michelle {rynthae.deviantart.com} as her co-chair on the Otaku-Con planning committee(kinda like the vice president) for the last couple months in an effort to see her visions for a local anime/manga convention in Spokane, WA take shape. There were times when I truly doubted that we could manage to pull it off. The lack of active volunteers and organization on our part seemed overwhelming. Over time though, we managed to pick up some valuable people to join us in our efforts who took up various roles and truly made this a con worth attending...including our MVP Dave who managed to get our fliers in the local shops that sell anime/manga and got a surge of people interested in our con.

Dave has probably been having a bit more of the lingering "high" from pulling off a successful (or semi-successful) con, because we decided to make him the front-man of the con...the MC. Every time I looked his direction during the con, there was a new group of girls hanging around Dave, stealing his shoes, hanging on him...I even saw a video online that labeled him "Dave the Magnificent". For lesser mortals, this would probably cause an inflation in the cranium, but I think he'll live, and without a giant head. Dave is a good guy, I think we ought to keep him as our MC for years to come...

Huge thing I noticed that I didn't expect about the con...I didn't hear so many people complaining...
I was expecting to hear a lot more whining when there were misprints on the schedule, or when rooms got changed last moment...also when there wasn't really anything to do. You guys (if you were there) managed to keep things entertaining with giant duck duck goose circles, glomp circles and other random events. You guys are effin awesome.

Thanks again to everyone who attended, we will be taking your suggestions to heart and plan on making next year OVER 9000 times better than this year!!1
